Every summer? So it becomes the smell of summer? :) I like the look of a freshly asphalted road when it's a nice clean black. (The sounds, not so much. :D)
When I lived in Chicago HOLY COW we smelled this stuff all the time! Their streets were terrible, but finally we got a good mayor (Mayor Daley) & he straighten things up & made real alleys not dirt ones! He was a good mayor (Senior).
